Admitted students may be granted deferment of studies if there are special grounds.
The majority of KTH programmes at KTH starts once per academic year. Deferment of studies is therefore normally granted for one year.
Deferment of studies is not granted for reasons concerning housing/accommodation, your current economic situation or if there are delays in receiving a residence permit. Deferment of studies may however be granted if there are special grounds. Such grounds may include social, medical or other special circumstances.
Special circumstances may include childcare responsibilities, military or civilian services, student union assignments, or postponed leave under the Act on an employee's right to leave for education (1974:981).
They may also include fixed-term probationary employment under section 12 of the Act on certain appointment in the Swedish Armed Forces (2012:332), or service in the Swedish Armed Forces for persons employed as part-time group leaders, soldiers or sailors of that act.
Important information: If you are obliged to pay tuition fees, you must pay the first instalment of tuition fees before the tuition fee deadline for your application to be assessed.
